About

Maya was built by the two of us sisters – Ranjani and Ramya, from Chennai Tamil Nadu. Having grown up in the heart of Chennai’s cultural center,
it wasn’t long before we were immersed in the infinite world of Indian art, music and language.

Ranjani is a classical musician, artist and teacher, started this venture to share her love for Indian folk art – the mesmerising madhubani, the world of warli, Jamini Roy and his beautiful muses, Sanjhi and many other forms. 

Ramya joined in later with her love and expertise in pen and ink illustrations of heritage architecture and iconography. 

What you see today is an organically growing art base – one that brings some much needed exposure to endangered Indian heritage.
